CYCLING BETWEEN MOUNTAINS AND LAKES
The pay-off is huge for those who explore Carinthia pedalling. Cycle along picturesque river banks meandering through a majestic mountain landscape or past one of the 200 warm, crystal-clear lakes with water that’s clean to drink. Plenty of cycle routes take you to the most beautiful spots in Austria’s sunny south and invite you to take a break and enjoy your time to the fullest with your whole family. You can pack your bikes for the trip to Carinthia already in spring. Cycling without Borders
IMMERSE YOURSELF IN HISTORY AND CULTURE
In spring 2016, the cycle route along the Drava river (“Drauradweg”) reached for the stars. Five stars, to be more precise, making it a 5-star cycle route certified by the German Cyclist’s Association (ADFC). The 366-kilometre tour that crosses the whole province of Carinthia is one of Austria’s most popular routes. An adventure for the whole family! Signposts on every corner and delicious meals that you can savour at one of the restaurants and taverns along the Drava river make this route a “don’t worry - be happy” travel experience for cyclists. Would you like to cross the borders? In just one week, the “Alpe-Adria Cycle Path” takes you to the sea. It starts in Salzburg, the city of Mozart, goes through the Hohe Tauern National Park before heading southward toward the sunny province of Carinthia and across the Austrian border to Italy. With a total length of 162 kilometres, the different cycle routes of “Via Carinzia” in southern Carinthia guarantee pleasurable cycling rides rich in history and culture. The cycle route “Gailtal-Radweg” winds through the Gailtal valley with the awe-inspiring Gailtal and Carnic Alps rising either side of you. In central Carinthia, it’s all about the e-bike.
