Several private ski lifts in Faistenau, Hof bei Salzburg and Koppl are topping it off.

1. Take a Refreshing Dip in the Waterfall
Swimming in the pleasantly warm waters of Lake Fuschlsee - yes, everybody’s in for that. But not everyone dares taking a refreshing dip in the icy waters of the mountain stream Plötz near Ebenau.
Embark on this refreshing adventure on a hot summer’s day from the village of Ebenau. Following the signposted trail “Mühlenwanderweg”, you’ll pass seven historic mills. The highlight after a 2 hours’ walk is the waterfall where the mountain stream Plötz plummets over a cliff of 50m in height. A dip in the pool underneath is the ultimate refreshment for die-hard swimmers.
2. Sample Local Delicacies in a Mountain Cabin
The Lake Fuschlsee region is home to plenty of mountain cabins surrounded by alpine pastures. A lot of them are staffed during summer. Here, you can sample local delicacies and home-made dishes. It doesn’t matter if it was a long or a short one, a difficult or an easy trail - after a hiking tour or a country walk, the snack platter featuring home-made cheese and bacon tastes even better. Some of the mountain cabins serve culinary delights made with elderflowers and elderberries. They are called “Holleralmen”.
3. Hike to the “Ice Chapel” in Hintersee
The “ice chapel” (“Eiskapelle”) in Hintersee is an outstanding natural phenomenon. It’s a kind of miniature glacier at an altitude of less than 1,000m.
The “ice chapel” is located at the foot of the mountains Wieserhörndl and Anzenberg, in a gorge that the stream Grießbach has carved into the mountain. In winter, the gorge is buried by a huge layer of snow of up to 750m. The density increases tremendously with depth. In spring, when the snow begins to melt, the water steadily hollows out the huge pile of snow from the bottom, thus creating a large space that looks like a chapel.
