The road tours in the road cycling destination “SalzburgerLand - Salzkammergut” take you along some of the most beautiful lakes in SalzburgerLand and the adjacent Salzkammergut region. Even though there are hardly any extremely tough climbs, riding over the undulating hills also adds up to quite some elevation gain. A dip in one of the beautiful lakes dotting the region is the reward after a cycle tour or an energising break on the way.
Much more elevation gain awaits you in the road cycling destination “Salzburger Sportwelt”. In search for a decent challenge? Starting in Radstadt, the cycling marathon “Amadé” winds through the region on almost 150 kilometres with 2,000+ metres elevation gain. If you’d like to take a leisurely ride, we recommend cycling on the valley floor of the wide Ennstal valley.
The road cycling destination “Rad & Bike Pinzgau” is home to the king of climbs and arguably the hardest road in the country, the Grossglockner High Alpine Road (“Großglockner Hochalpenstraße”) climbing Austria’s highest mountain. The route around the massif “Hochkönig” (“Hochkönigrunde”) and the mountain pass “Gerlospass” are also great goals to achieve. More leisurely cycling awaits you in the Saalachtal valley. The cycle routes there also come with a stunning view of the majestic mountains.

Throughout the province, cyclists find more than 250 cycle routes accessible to a broad range of abilities. You can also plan your personal cycle route. But cycling is not allowed everywhere. Cycling is prohibited in environmentally sensitive areas as well as on agricultural and forestry land. Please stay on the marked routes and paths at all times and respect the basic rules and cycling etiquette.

In the “Epic Bikepark Leogang”, two cable cars take you up the mountain to the starting point. From there, you can speed down to the valley floor on trails that differ in length and difficulty. In the “Riders Playground” at the base station, newbies of all ages can learn how to ride roots, rocks and trails. Getting started in mountain biking is not as scary as it can seem!
The “Bikepark Wagrain” located in the Salzburger Sportwelt region, will make every adrenaline junkie’s heart sing. It offers something for beginners and seasoned riders alike. Expect great flow trails that take you downhill featuring dirt jumps and tables. The cable car “Flying Mozart” takes you uphill in no time.

The Journey Is the Reward

With a total length of 310 kilometres, the “Tauernradweg” takes you through the entire province along the rivers Salzach and Saalach. The route starts at the Krimml Waterfalls where you’ll hear the water roar and goes through Salzburg, the city of Mozart, before heading northward to the city of Passau. With a total elevation gain of 600 metres, this long-distance cycle route is ideal for families. Of course, you don’t have to ride from the start to the end all at once. You can also choose a few stages and return to your starting point by public transport.
In 8 stages, the “Alpe-Adria Cycle Path” takes you from Salzburg, the city of Mozart, to Grado, on the shores of the Adriatic Sea. The full route is 415 kilometres in length and includes 5,400 metres elevation gain in total. You can choose to ride part of the cycle route passing places of outstanding natural beauty and the most important attractions in the province of SalzburgerLand.
