Hiking Holidays in the Mountains
EVERY JOURNEY BEGINS WITH THE FIRST STEP
A hiking holiday in the mountains can be so simple: get up in the morning, tie your boots, step outside and set out for a hike. Not only is this kind of exercise a workout for your whole body but it also strengthens your heart and cardiovascular system.
Well sign-posted hiking trails often start right at the doorstep of your mountain cabin or chalet. Follow the trails to stay safe in the mountains. Please consider that on most hiking trails, you need to be sure-footed and in good shape. Assess your own level of coordination and ability and choose the trail that suits you best.
Austria’s vast network of hiking trails offers routes to suit all levels: from family-friendly walks on colourful loop trails to rugged mountain peaks that reward you with a breathtaking view of the Alps. For experienced mountaineers, there are mountain cabins and chalets right next to via ferratas.
So, enjoy an ample breakfast, pack some weatherproof clothing, tie your hiking boots and let’s go!
Mountain Biking in the Mountains
DOWNHILL TRACKS AND LEISURELY RIDES
Activity holidays in the mountains may as well be holidays on two wheels. Single trails, flow trails or downhill tracks, for beginners or advanced bikers: the mountainous landscape of Austria’s alpine regions is home to some of the best trails for mountain biking enthusiasts.
Salzburg’s mountain bike destinations offer a huge array of well-signposted trails with smooth and flowing lines, technical downhill tracks and stunning mountains - panoramic views guaranteed.
Luckily, there’s always a charming mountain cabin or chalet near your favourite mountain bike destination. You will definitely find what you’re looking for.
Swimming in the Mountains
A DIP IN THE GLACIAL LAKE
What’s better than a refreshing swim in the lake after a hard, strenuous hike? The chilly water in the crystal-clear mountain lakes is not stopping die-hard swimmers from taking a dip. Especially, if the summer sun quickly dries them again.
If you’re not fond of the cold and don’t want to risk a heart attack, don’t worry. There’s plenty of other ways to refresh yourself on our mountain cabins and chalets. With hot tubs, jacuzzis and outdoor swimming pools, our premium chalets are great places for relieving sore muscles and relaxing.
Holidays with Dogs
HAVE A GREAT TIME IN THE MOUNTAINS
An activity holiday in the mountains is not complete without a man’s or woman’s best friend. Of course, you don’t have to leave your dog at home or with a dog sitter. He can come along and share lots of moments of joy during your holiday with you.
Pets are allowed on a lot of our mountain cabins and chalets. They are mostly very well suited for holidays with dogs and co and the area surrounding the cabin or chalet is fenced.
Explore the great outdoors and the awe-inspiring mountains with your four-pawed friend. What a beautiful escape into nature! Stroll through the forest together and breathe in the scent of the trees. Cross alpine pastures and make your dream come true: hiking with your faithful companion.
Since a lot of animals are grazing on the alpine pastures, especially in summer, there are certain rules to follow. Most importantly, keep a safe distance! Avoid contact with grazing cattle and other animals. Keep dogs away from cows at all times. This is why, in Austria, dogs must be kept on a lead on alpine pastures.
For special requests, feel free to ask the hosts of your favourite mountain cabin or chalet. That way, you will have an absolutely great time on holiday with your dog.
