With 420km of marked trails, the Innviertel-Hausruckwald region is a paradise for trail riders. In the heart of the region, you can find the equestrian centre “Hausruckhof” and the horse riders’ village Ampflwang. Rosy cheeks and a smile will keep you company when you’re making your way across the snow-covered hills with your snow shoes or cross-country skis.

The trout circus (“Forellenzirkus”) in St. Aegidi is one of a kind. Did you know that fish are really acrobatic? Whizz down the hill on the summer toboggan run in Haag am Hausruck. Watch birds of prey take to the skies at the “Adlerwarte” in Obernberg am Inn. A fascinating experience! The practice of falconry is inscribed on the UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. At Christmas, it’s time to get cosy in the farmhouse. Beer, Cider and Hearty Snacks
No other part of Austria is home to such a high amount of private breweries than the “Bierregion Innviertel” (“beer region Innviertel”). Whether it’s a glass of Trappist beer brewed by the monks in the Engelszell Abbey or an ale from “Kanonenbräu”, Europe’s first brewery boat - you definitely won’t go thirsty here! The Hausruckviertel region is well known for delicious ciders. Marvel at the springtime beauty, when the orchards around the villages of Scharten and St. Marienkirchen an der Polsenz are in full bloom. Cherry, pear and apple trees in their various shades of whites and pale pinks are the most picturesque backdrop for a country walk. Stop by a traditional cider tavern and enjoy a hearty snack. You’ll be welcomed with open arms! Let’s take a look at the mouth-watering delights on the menu: “Innviertler Speckknödel” (dumplings filled with bacon), pork ribs or “Innviertler Affen” (sweet fried dough pastry) are only some of the local delicacies.

A Great Destination for Music Lovers
In the Innviertel-Hausruckwald region, folk music is popular among the young and the young at heart. The “Innviertler Landler” is a popular folk dance that combines instrumental music, rhymes and singing. It’s inscribed on the UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The annual “Gstanzlsingen” in Aspach lures visitors from afar. Gstanzl are a traditional type of humorous songs. You will split your sides laughing! Famous beyond its borders: “Woodstock der Blasmusik”, a large brass music festival held in Ort im Innkreis. It features contemporary and traditional brass bands. The place to be for music lovers! Highlight: The joint concert of all festival-goers who have brought their instruments!
Good music is at the centrepiece of all kinds of celebrations, village fetes and concerts. The Innviertel-Hausruckwald region is home to outstanding and award-winning marching bands. A feast for your ears! The theatre play “Frankenburger Würfelspiel” (“Frankenburg dice game”) is an extraordinary outdoor theatre performance.
