Swimming in Austria
Farm & Water - An Ideal Combination
If we were to draw a picture of the holiday of our dreams, it would probably combine shades of green as the nature and blue as the water. A song of the holiday of our dreams would sound like chirping birds, humming bees, bleating sheep and a burbling fountain. A farm holiday in Austria makes all these dreams come true. In between breakfast with farm products, a visit in the barn and a hike up the mountains, one thing is never out of reach: water. Luckily, Austria is home to a large amount of water bodies. The splashy fun is never far from the farm you’re staying in.
Farm Holidays at the Lakeside
Unspoilt nature, an authentic mix of tradition and innovation as well as the genuine hospitality of the hosts combined with experiences on a working farm - that’s the perfect symbiosis that you can encounter on the farm “Ferienhof Neusacher-Moser”. And these are only some of the reasons for a holiday at Lake Weißensee in Carinthia.

Water - A Source of Energy
Water. You don’t even have to swim in it. It’s already enough to be close to water to feel happy. No matter in which form we get in contact with this wet element, it’s an instant source of strength and energy. A transparent, crystal-clear mountain stream or the shimmering turquoise waters of a glacial lake reflecting the clouds. A river bubbling with energy or the deeply calming effect of a pond in the forest. When we’re looking at the sun glitter and the bright, sparkling light on the water surface, when we’re listening to the sound of waves hitting the shore, when we dip our fingers or toes in the cold water - everything’s alright.
Streams, Rivers & Lakes
Every year, the Danube in Upper Austria and Lower Austria attracts a great number of cyclists who take a leisurely ride along its river banks lined with vineyards. By the way, Austria even honours its largest river in the national anthem. Hikers rejoice at the sight of impressive waterfalls and shimmering mountain lakes. Sports enthusiasts can’t get enough of the water.
Not to mention the splashy fun for kids! It’s part of summer just like the sun and a place in the shade. The good thing is: Austria boasts an abundance of water - in all its variety. There’s an offer to suit every taste.
Highest Water Quality
Did you know that the majority of lakes in Austria are of drinking water quality? This is a special extra that comes for free on your farm holiday in Austria.
Have you ever taken a sip directly from a mountain spring? There’s no better refreshment during a hike in the mountains. In Austria, you can always refill your bottle with tap water, there’s nothing to worry about. This way, you don’t need to buy new water bottles in the supermarket.
The little ones might swallow a lot of water when they take their first swim in the lake and splash about in the water. But that’s not a big deal. You can be sure that the water bodies in Austria are very clean. It’s good to feel safe!
Splashy Fun for Everyone
Splish-splash! The kids have just started an epic water fight. But you don’t get distracted. You continue swimming your laps in peace and quiet. There’s enough space for everyone in the lake. Speaking of which: Have you ever thought of taking swimming lessons to improve your swimming technique, movements and pace? Get some advice from one of the certified instructors at the public beach!
Would you rather like to strap water skis to your feet and be towed at speed across the water, riding the choppy waves of the boat’s wake? Do you prefer snorkelling for hours, observing the fish, or floating on an air mattress, daydreaming and enjoying the silence? Whatever you prefer: on your farm holiday in Austria, fun in the water is always close-by.
Endless Opportunities
Since Austria is home to a variety of water bodies, any kind of water sports is possible here. Sailors and surfers find top destinations at the large lakes whereas divers will dream of legendary treasures that may be hidden in the depths of the lakes of the Salzkammergut region. Wild rivers and peaceful floodplains are a paradise for fly fishers. The rich fishing grounds in lakes and backwaters make every angler’s heart sing. Naturally, you can try every kind of activity during your holiday. A diverse programme is guaranteed!
There’s no need to travel long distances. Everything’s nearby: kayaking on Monday, surfing on Tuesday, walking barefoot through the pristine waters of a stream on Wednesday. Diving lessons on Thursday, a rafting tour on Friday, a hike to the waterfall on Saturday. (On Sundays, it’s time to take it easy. Stand on deck and marvel at the reflections of mountains on the water surface while the boat takes you across the lake.)
Relax on the Farm in Austria
This is how your farm holiday in Austria could look like: cycle to the near pond in the forest or glide over the lake in a traditional wooden rowing boat. Take a walk across the wetlands or take a refreshing shower underneath a waterfall. Everything’s so close! That means you don’t even have to make a tough choice - you can simply go from one water activity to the next.
Of course, you can also spend a relaxing day on the farm and get a glimpse of farm life. What’s going on in the barn and in the farmer’s kitchen? Are the raspberries in the snack garden ripe? The kids have started a large project: they are building a dam in the creek together. They are crazy about it and bubbling with energy! Meanwhile, you can continue unwinding in peace and tranquility at the swimming pool, the natural swimming pond or in the hammock with a good book. How nice is that?
If the water happens to come from the sky, you will see that a rainy day on the farm can be extremely cosy. When’s the last time that you’ve been running barefoot in a wet meadow or that you’ve sloshed through a big puddle in your wellies? That you’ve danced in the warm summer rain? Let the kids show you how it’s done!
