Ultimate Bucket List: 3 Things to Do in the Großarltal Valley
1. Cheesemaking in the Mountains
Have you ever seen how cheese is produced? In summer, you can watch the dairymen in the mountain cabin “Karseggalm” make sour milk cheese once a week. Of course, there’s enough time to try the delicious cheeses. We recommend combining it with a nice country walk. The mountain cabin “Karseggalm” is absolutely worth a visit. Built 400 years ago, this is the oldest mountain cabin in the Großarltal valley. No electricity, an earthen floor made of clay, everything’s handmade - like in the old days.
2. Speed Down the Hillside in a Mountain Cart
The descent in a mountain cart is full of action! Start from the top station of the local cable car “Panoramabahn” that takes you from the village of Großarl to an altitude of 1,850m in no time. If you feel like going for a country walk on the mountain, you can follow the sensory trail or romp around on the natural adventure playground. And for those who can’t wait to get going and speed downhill: Ready, steady, gooo!
3. Celebrate Ladies Ski Week
In March, the annual “Ladies Ski Week” in the Großarltal valley attracts passionate skiers, well known artists and bands to the valley. A great number of events takes place during the day and at night. Sunshine skiing at its best and 1 + 1 free ski pass for guests. Passionate dancers and party animals can look forward to a great programme and highlights at the parties in the large pole tent.
