Ultimate Bucket List: 3 Things to Do in the Hochkönig Region
1. Exciting Activities on the “Mountain of Princes”
Plenty of activities and fun for the whole family await you on the “mountain of princes”, the “Prinzenberg Natrun” in Maria Alm. In summer, the cable car takes you from the village centre of Maria Alm to the top of the mountain Natrun. The highlights: zip lining through the tree tops, mountain biking on flow trails and speeding down the slides in the forest park. The ultimate adventure playground includes four slides which take you down to the valley in no time! Buggy-friendly trails and lovely spots to relax are topping it off.
2. Cycling across Alpine Pastures on an E-Bike
What could possibly be nicer than soaking up the beauty of nature and getting some exercise at the same time? Join a local guide and cycle from one mountain cabin to the next on themed trails. And the best thing is: Not only the scenery is remarkable but also the culinary delights served in the mountain cabins. Each tour includes several stops with menus consisting of local delicacies, home-made desserts and culinary treats made with herbs.
3. Skiing Like a King
“Hochkönig” literally translates to “high king”. And if you spend your skiing holiday here, you absolutely have to embark on a very special adventure with your skis or snowboard: the “king tour” or “Königstour”, in German. 6 summits, 35 kilometres of pistes and 7,500 metres of elevation gain - these are the key facts of the entire tour which is well-signposted with yellow and orange arrows. The breathtaking panorama of the majestic massif Hochkönig and the mountain range Steinernes Meer keeps you company on your way. Don’t forget to stop by one of the staffed mountain cabins. Indulge in culinary delights and regain your strength for the next day.
