Ultimate Bucket List: 3 Things to Do in the Tennengebirge Region
1. Visit the “World of Ice Giants” in Werfen
You absolutely have to visit the “World of Ice Giants” (“Eisriesenwelt”) in Werfen during your holiday in the Tennengebirge region. Marvel at the spectacular ice formations and learn interesting facts about the development of the ice cave. Expect an elevation gain of 124m during the guided tour. Don’t forget warm clothes and sturdy boots. Temperatures in the cave are below zero - also in summer.
2. Falconry Display at Hohenwerfen Castle
We recommend combining a visit of the “World of Ice Giants” with a trip to Hohenwerfen Castle including a falconry display. The medieval castle is home to a historic falconry centre that houses a museum of falconry, historic mews and hosts regular falconry displays - the ultimate highlight during a visit of Hohenwerfen Castle. The flying displays feature vultures, eagles and falcons who love to show what they do best. There are several displays a day.
3. Tandem Paragliding from the Mountain Bischling
Tandem paragliding is a brilliant way to see your holiday destination from new perspectives. Plus, it’s a great adrenaline rush and a thrill like no other. Thanks to its sheltered location that creates ideal weather and wind conditions, the mountain Bischling in Werfenweng is an incredible spot to try this exhilarating aerial sport. You can also go tandem paragliding in winter. Make a dream come true as you soar through the air hundreds of metres above the ground!
