Get ready to discover a small, family-friendly ski resort and picturesque cross-country ski trails on the plateau of the Postalm in Strobl. Explore the surrounding mountain peaks in your snowshoes or with ski touring skis. If there’s plenty of snow in winter, there’s a cross-country ski trail on the valley floor that leads from Abersee to Strobl including a breathtaking view of Lake Wolfgangsee. A special highlight: ice skating on frozen Lake Wolfgangsee. Although it’s not possible every year, chances are high in late January/early February.

E-bikes, mountain bikes and racing bikes are ideal to explore the entire Salzkammergut region starting from Lake Wolfgangsee.

Fish from Lake Wolfgangsee is a locally sourced and all-natural product. There’s no other place where you can enjoy it as fresh as in one of the many restaurants around Lake Wolfgangsee. 3. Take in Spectacular Views from the Mountain Schafberg
With 1,782m, the Schafberg is not the highest mountain in the region but it’s the most popular one for sure. How to go up there? You can either take the cog railway starting from St. Wolfgang or rely on your own strength only and follow one of the hiking trails. They lead you to the summit from any direction. It’s a 2- to 4-hour hike. Standing on top, you can gaze at 14 lakes including the lakes in the Salzkammergut region and even Lake Chiemsee. The mountain scenery at your feet ranges from the massif Dachstein to the mountains Bischofmütze and Watzmann. The panoramic view will take your breath away!
