Recreational Cycling & Immersive Experiences in Nature
Cycle Routes in Burgenland
A romantic experience in spring: the “cherry blossom trail” (“Kirschblütenweg”) from Donnerskirchen to Jois. The route includes quite some elevation gain but cyclists will be rewarded with a spectacular view! The “Rosalia-Wanderweg” is a lovely country walk through strawberry fields and past the beautiful castle “Forchtenstein”. In Southern Burgenland, the “paradise trail” (“Paradiesroute”) takes you through three nature parks on a length of 260km. It includes family-friendly parts and decent physical challenges. Culinary delights and places of outstanding natural beauty are topping it off.
Cycling around Lake Neusiedl
An All-Time Classic
Engaging in a diverse range of activities and reconnecting with nature - that’s what a holiday should look like. An indulgent and active break.
Explore the natural beauty of Burgenland on your bicycle cycling through riverscapes and wetlands or discovering picturesque “cellar lanes” (“Kellergassen”) that are emblematic of this region. Wine used to be produced and stored close to the vineyards in these historical buildings. Of course, there’s also the all-time classic: the cycling tour around Lake Neusiedl. Cycling enthusiasts can be proud of having completed the entire loop tour around Central Europe’s largest steppe lake. Crossing the state border is obligatory on this tour. But you can also take a shortcut and travel back to the starting point by boat or choose one of the more leisurely, family-friendly stages. After all, no one forces you to overdo it!
Food lovers and gourmets will find everything their hearts could possibly desire in the traditional wine taverns (“Buschenschank” and “Heuriger”) along the way that have enough space to park your bicycle, of course. Embark on an adventure on two wheels right from the farmyard!
