Recreational Cycling in Southern and Eastern Styria
A number of themed cycle routes invites you to explore the lovely scenery in the southern and eastern parts of Styria without missing out on great food and drinks. In the Vulkanland & Spa region, 14 so-called “Genussradwege” include stops where you can sample local delicacies.
The long-distance cycle route “Weinland Steiermark Tour” takes you across the vineyards and along the wine roads in Southern and Eastern Styria.
Food lovers can discover some of the most typical products that Styria is famous for beyond its borders on the “Käferbohnentour” (runner beans) and “Apfeltour” (apples).
Cycling along Rivers
Styria’s most popular cycle route runs along the river Mur (“Murradweg”) from the Hohe Tauern range in the north to the Slovenian/Austrian border in the south. This long-distance route crosses a great diversity of landscapes making it one of Austria’s most beautiful cycle routes along a river.
The cycle paths along the rivers Enns, Feistritz, Raab and Sulm are just as delightful. Immerse yourself in nature and enjoy the picturesque scenery while you’re exploring Styria’s diverse regions.
And if you’re longing for a refreshment, you can stop on the river banks and dip your toes in the chilly waters at any time.
Mountain Biking in Styria
Climb the mountains on your mountain bike - the pay-off is huge! Don’t miss out on a spectacular view from the top.
The mountain biking destination “Mountainbikeregion Schladming-Dachstein” offers 26 routes and 19 trails. There won’t be a dull moment here! How about combining two great outdoor activities? Cycle to the starting point of your hiking tour and continue on foot. This offer is called “Hike & Bike”.
A diverse range of activities also awaits mountain bikers in the Ausseerland region, the Hochsteiermark region, on the mountain Schöckl near Graz, in Miesenbach in Eastern Styria and in the Schilcherland region covering the areas of Eibiswald, Wies and Radlpass.
Racing Bike or E-Bike?
A tour on an e-bike is a great and easy way to explore valleys and hills alike. This means of transport makes a great range of tours accessible to less athletic cyclists as well. Styria is home to several e-biking destinations from the Ausseerland region in the north to the Hochsteiermark and Almenland regions in the east and the mountain range Koralm in the south-west.
Road cyclists who are in search for a decent challenge can choose from great routes, always with an idyllic scenery as a backdrop: demanding climbs up the mountains or mountain passes, or leisurely rides along the rivers or over the undulating hills covered with orchards and vineyards.
